Addressing Truck Driver Shortages

Trucking as an industry is experiencing monumental institutional shifts. One of the biggest threats to trucking is the low number of new truckers entering the workforce.

Young people do not seem interested in the long hours and lack of comforts on the road. The problem is exacerbated by the promise of driverless trucks, which leads many to think that trucking is a dying profession.

For now, the profession is still alive. Trucking businesses struggling to staff their companies may need to go where the talent can be found.

That means, first and foremost, using social media. Overhauling the optics and perception of trucking may be the first step in convincing millennials to join the profession.
